Sir Ken Robinson has begun to answer the questions put to him on Twitter. The first question was about the value of degrees or diplomas in a changing world – “In Jan.04 US college grads unemployment rate exceeded that of high school dropouts. What does this mean for diplomas and degrees? ”. ( Interestingly this appears to be 6 years out of date?)
He comments that the expansion of the ‘knowledge economy’ needs to produce a change in our crumbling public education systems. The post school education available needs to broaden its range and become richer, celebrating the diversity needed to engage in a developing world. He comments that a degee or a diploma isn’t a passport into a future any longer … it is a visa and visas run out and need to be renewed.
