Back to the list for phonics schemes etc – does this mean that publishers are going to develop materials which only ‘pander’ to the governmental edict on a subject? Where will this leave freedom of teaching and this idea that it is the inspired who teach best … I note that those teachers rarely use text books anyway. Wasn’t there some issue recently with exam boards publishing texts which, in effect, taught/caught the whole syllabus?
