Books a U-turn …

Reported on One day in Government is a long time … it appears that the Government has already made a u-turn regarding the funding for ‘Booktrust’ … Education Secretary Michael Gove had “committed his support for Booktrust book-gifting programmes so that every child will continue to have access to the gift of a book.

I wonder how many more things, within the scope of educational spending, pressure from a sensible public can change …

Two is a good starting number … what shall we go for next … Sats, GCSE, fees, Reading tests at 6, synthetic phonics … my list grows larger by the second.

PS

I wonder if the turn-round re ‘school sport’ might have been instigated by prior knowledge of what the subject of the Queen’s Christmas message was?
